Last Wednesday, it was the composition class's turn to present what they have been doing for the past academic year (me included). This time, we were blessed with wonderful performances and an equally wonderful audience, who never let a single cough out through the entire albeit short concert!
After a semester of rallying, I managed to find performers for three of my works. Natyra Elezi performed Invisible Cities, the SAND quartet performed Duang and the trio consisting of Hyeonsoo Kim, Yishi Zhao and Mariam Gyoletsyan performed two movements of my yet incomplete song cycle At the gate.
Mariam also performed with stunning brilliance Speicherzellen, a set of etudes from my colleague Dmitriy Zhovkovskii. Other works performed that night were Namudl for voice and piano by Yeseul Kim and Projektion for piano four hands by Hannah Stastny, which I performed with my composition teacher Frank Gerhardt.
